I haven’t started watching Season 5 of House of Cards yet, but as soon as I do, you can bet I’ll be downloading episodes of the podcasts about the show. I love listening to podcasts about shows that I’m currently watching; there’s always so much chatter!
If my husband had it his way, we would binge watch the entire season of House of Cards in one week, but I can only take so much dark and nefarious TV at one time! When I’ve had a rough day, I need some comedy, and even Frank Underwood’s witty asides aren’t enough to offset the horrible things that the characters in HoC do to one another!

Since we only watch a couple of episodes every day or two, I am left with just enough time to listen to podcasts about the show. I don’t like spoilers. I do like reliving the awesome writing of the show, dissecting the plot, and speculating about what might happen next.
If you’re a big House of Cards fan, you should absolutely check out these three recap podcasts. (These are the three podcasts that are actually covering Season 5; there are a lot of HoC podcasts that haven’t picked up after the end of Season 4).
3 House of Cards Podcasts (for when you just can't get enough)
1. Afterbuzz TV’s House of Cards After Show
If you like viewing parties or live-tweeting, this podcast is for you. Like most Afterbuzz TV’s After Show podcasts, this is a fun group chat (I hate the term “panel discussion”) about the latest episode. If you’ve listened to the podcast in the past, Season 5 features the same crew of hosts as before.
One episode of the After Show podcast usually covers two episodes of House of Cards (because even I can’t watch just one!) The hosts do not binge watch, so they can’t provide any spoilers.
Episodes are usually 35-45 minutes, which is good when I've just spent two hours watching TV!
2. House of Cards LIVE Post Show Recaps
If you manage to watch House of Cards more quickly than I do (or the AfterBuzz show does), the House of Cards LIVE podcast is your daily fix. The podcast releases one episode recap every day for 13 days, to go with each of the 13 HoC episodes.
The hosts of this show are fun and energetic. It’s definitely more “two-guys-in-a-studio” than the AfterBuzz “viewing-party” style show, but I like it just as much. Episodes are usually 50-60 minutes long.
The idea of “binging” one episode a day and keeping up with this podcast as it's released is fun, but I know that won't happen in my house. Still, I like the hosts, so I'll probably listen to episodes as we get around to watching.
3. TaylorMarkTV’s House of Cards Podcast
Unlike last season, when they binged the entire House of Cards season in 72 hours, Taylor and Mark are covering 3 episodes at a time for Season 5.
I think one of the reasons that this podcast is so entertaining is because Taylor and Mark are so different. Taylor is a foul-mouthed American and Mark is a much calmer, less potty-mouthed Brit. The contrast between the two guys spices up their conversation and plot dissection. Definitely worth a listen!
