In this post: creepy podcasts about ghosts and paranormal activity. You've been warned.
In more than two years of writing about podcasts, I've never written about paranormal podcasts or any sort of spooky podcasts. The closest I've gotten is recommending Lore.
I'm just not a creepy podcasts kinda gal. I'm not scared of my shadow or anything, but I don't think I need more things to worry about in life.
When I was about 8 years old, I was watching Unsolved Mysteries on TV when someone came up and scared me from behind. More than 30 years later, I can't listen to the host's voice without freaking out.
I don't dress up for Halloween, but I do enjoy a good Ancient Aliens marathon. I do believe in ghosts and spirits (I was actually a fan of the TV show Ghost Whisperer back in the day), but you wouldn't catch me dead on a haunted plantation tour or anything like that.
Sooo...how do I go about recommending creepy podcasts to you? I ask the hosts of a paranormal podcast for help!
I asked the hosts of Ghostly - a paranormal-leaning history podcast - to share with me all their favorite creepy podcasts, and why they recommend them. In exchange, I've listened to a few episodes of Ghostly, and you can find my recommendation for the show at the end of this article.

Mysterious Universe
Since 2006, Mysterious Universe has brought weekly episodes of “the strange, extraordinary, weird, wonderful and everything in between”.
Hosts Benjamin Grundy and Aaron Wright have a great chemistry and use their extensive knowledge of the paranormal world and scientific background to explain a wide range of topics including aliens, ghosts, and cryptids. They approach every episode with humor, history and a healthy dose of skepticism.
Meet My Ghost
This creepy biweekly podcast by creator and host Sandy Tuffs is super eerie. Tuffs is a therapist who is obsessed with all-things haunted. She reads stories submitted by readers, both true and fictional. Short (about 20 minutes per episode) and spooky, Meet My Ghost is a great for curling up on a rainy day or dark night, with the lights off and a cup of hot chocolate.
Haunted Places
Part of the Parcast Network, Haunted Places is a weekly podcast in which host Greg Polcyn tells the story of how some of the scariest places on earth got their reputations. Polcyn has an amazing voice for podcasting, and he tells the story as a narrative, making you feel like you are right in the story. The fantastic music that accompanies each story adds to the spooky feeling.
Anything Ghost
On Anything Ghost, host Lex Wahl shares true paranormal experiences from listeners. With episodes since 2006, there are hundreds of episodes available (older episodes only to VIP members) to keep listeners deep in scary stories for a long time. Well-written stories combined with a strong host voice make it clear why this podcast has been around for over 10 years, averaging one episode a month.
And That’s Why We Drink
The And That's Why We Drink podcast mixes paranormal, true crime, and wine. Hosts Christine Schiefer and Em Schulz are funny and make listeners feel like friends. This is a weekly podcast invites listeners to enjoy a drink along with the show's banter, spooky ghost stories, and terrifying true crime tales. “The world's a scary place. And that's why we drink!”

Creepy
Looking for some good creepypasta stories or urban legends? Check out the weekly podcast Creepy, part of the Bloody Disgusting Network. While Jon Grilz is the creator and lead narrator, the podcast employs a host of voices to keep things fresh and spooky with every story. This show has great music and content that will stay with you long after listening.
Ghostly
Ghostly mixes creepy folklore with fun, friendly debate. In each episode, hosts Pat Harrington and Rebecca Rivers introduce a different haunting or horror story, then they present arguments for why the story may or may not be true. Not only do they split their opinions down the middle - one is a skeptic, one a believer - but they invite their listeners to weigh in via social media polls.
Both Pat and Rebecca present a mountain of research, evidence, and context for each story or creepy concept, often mixing in pop culture references. You'll finish each episode with a greater curiosity about the world around you, and plenty to talk about (or debate) with your friends.
Episodes of Ghostly come out every other week.

You’re missing one of the greatest spooky podcasts! Scare You to Sleep, hosted by Shelby Scott, is the perfect creepy story podcast. She writes a lot of material herself as well as featuring guest writers. Her editing is spot on and absolutely haunting. It’ll make you jump out of your skin!
Hi Chloe! Thanks for adding another one to the list! I already jump out of my skin a lot without the help of podcasts, but I’ll take a listen! LOL
How about Ghost Hunting in New England? Two New England cousins talk ghost stories, interview investigators, and read listener stories in a segment called Drive By Ghostings. It’s available everywhere you get podcasts, and new episodes come out on Wednesdays at BOO o’clock (aka 8:00 pm).
Ooooh! Okay, as a New Englander, I can get behind that! Thanks for the recommendation!
For real-life spookiness that’s often creepier than anything supernatural, I highly recommend Andrew Tate’s “Let’s Not Meet: A True Horror Podcast.” I also really like “Ghosts in the Burbs,” “The Ghost Story Guys,” and “Real Life Ghost Stories”
I’ve also heard that Let’s Not Meet is really good! Thanks for adding all of these!
Broadcast from the Belfry! It’s not strictly paranormal or true crime, but they cover all things weird, creepy, and gross. One host like just likes to upset the other one. They’ve covered things like bog bodies, creepy clowns, vampire folklore, non-traditional burial practices, cannibals, hauntings, etc.
And That’s Why We Drink is one of my favorites, which you’ve already got. Dead Time Storiez is another one I’ve been getting into, too. Same kind of set up but different banter and whatnot.
